Catching Up

It’s been quite a while since I’ve updated my blog, so I will try to briefly cover everything that happened!

On Tuesday I came home after my classes were over. It took me a pretty long time to pack up everything I needed for break because I had not even attempted to start packing things until I wanted to leave. I got home and worked on and finished one of my mom’s Christmas presents. It’s all ordered and I can’t wait until it gets delivered. I was planning on hanging out with my good friend Katie from high school. She came over to my house before she had to go to a friend’s birthday dinner and then we went out to Starbucks after her dinner was over. She told me about this event in Baltimore on December 17 called Dub Nation. It’s like a big concert and it sounds awesome. I literally bought my ticket when we were there in Starbucks. I am trying to get my other friends to go too because I think that they will really like it.

Well, as everyone knows, Thursday was Thanksgiving. I woke up around 10 and I had some breakfast. We were planning on eating “dinner” at 3. I was really nervous about eating Thanksgiving dinner. I was scared that I would get hungry between breakfast and dinner and I would eat too much. Turns out that’s what happened. I had a bunch of chocolate (why, parents, why did you have to have them sitting out??), an apple and some dry cereal. Then it was dinner time. I was proud of the way I ate. Even though I ate a little more than I wanted to, I ate what I wanted to. I didn’t eat what I didn’t want to eat. I got more food when I was still hungry and I stopped eating when I was full. My grandfather came over for Thanksgiving dinner and he gave me my birthday card. I opened it up and there was a $100 savings bond and a $100 bill. Holy shit! I will have to try and make that last a while. I was really tired, so I went down to my room kind of early. I just sat in bed watching movies and episodes of Saturday Night Live.

Then Friday it was my 19th birthday! Yay! My birthday presents had been sitting out in the dining room (wrapped, of course) since I had gotten home and they were really tempting. I could tell from the shape of the boxes that I was getting clothes and that I, unfortunately, wasn’t getting a dog. I had to get up early because we were leaving just before 10 a.m. to go to a spa. I had to take my breakfast with me in the car and we picked up Amanda and then went to the spa. It was called The Pearl and was about 45 minutes away. It was really nice and smelt so good when we walked in. I got changed into a robe and slippers and Amanda and I waited in the lounge, drinking tea, until it was our time to get our services done. Amanda got a pedicure and I got a facial. I was kind of disappointed with the facial. It was really nice and relaxing, don’t get me wrong, but the woman doing it didn’t do nearly as many extractions as she should have.

After we left the spa, my mom took us to a sushi restaurant for lunch that online reviewers had given “four stars” so I was looking forward to it. Well, that excitement died when we walked in. It was empty except for two tables. There were fake flowers everywhere that were stabbed into styrofoam. There were 3 or 4 waitresses and each of them asked us if we wanted a drink when we had already ordered from someone. The sushi tasted pretty good, but Miyako here always will have the #1 spot in my heart.

When we got back home my parents let me open my presents. My dad got me a travel book for my trip to Italy I’m going on this summer. My mom got me a beautiful beaded Free People strapless dress, a feather-printed Ella Moss top, a purple cropped Free People thermal top and a pair of silver pleated Free People shorts. I love them all! I was really nervous that nothing would fit but thankfully they all did. Oh wait, there was one other present. I could tell it was from Topshop from the packaging. It was a Dalmatian onesie. Wahhhhh it’s so cute. Hahah I put it up on my wishlist blog and I didn’t actually think I would get it. I look ridiculous in it.
Β At 4:40, Amanda, Colleen and I went to the movie theatre to see Twilight. Oh my god. It was amazing. There was one part that was really disgusting, though, and I had to look away. Seeing the movie was kind of hard, though. As Bella became more and more pregnant, she got thinner and thinner. It reminded me of how I used to look. I could barely watch some parts of the movie because I didn’t want to be reminded of what I used to look like and how I still miss it sometimes. I wish I hadn’t had to see that part of the movie, but it was kind of good because every other character kept saying how terrible she looked, so I know that even though people didn’t tell me, I probably looked really terrible, too.

After the movie we all went back to my house for dinner. My mom made salmon, baked potatoes and green beans. As usual, everything was delicious. After we sat and talked for a bit, we got my cake out. I made my wish, but I don’t even know why I bothered. Chances are that my wish will not ever come true. Oh well, where there’s a will, there’s a way, right?

After we ate, we went downstairs and were entertained with Chat Roulette for quite some time. I was wearing my Dalmatian onesie, which was a HUGE hit. Around 10 p.m. my good friend Alex came over to hang out. I hadn’t seen him in a really, really long time and I was excited to see him again. Colleen left a little after Alex came over and then my friend Katie came over. She slept over along with Amanda. We watched movies and then stayed up talking until 3:30. It was so much fun, there’s not much that can beat girl talk with some of your best friends.

On Saturday I just hung out at the house most of the day. I ran out to Jo Ann’s fabrics to get stuff for a project that I was making. I made a red, black and white floor pouf. It is pretty big and it looks really good. I will not be making another one of them anytime soon, though, because it got really tricky at the end. I’m surprised it is still holding together. For dinner I made taco salad. I spent the night watching movies and catching up on Gossip Girl.

Today, Sunday, I woke up around 11 and had breakfast. After I relaxed for a while, I went downstairs to shower, clean up the HUGE mess from my birthday and pack to get ready to come back to campus. I had a lot more stuff to bring back with me than I thought I did. When I got all settled in at my dorm I did some laundry and now I am just sitting in bed, bored, waiting for Brittany to come back so we can talk about our breaks!

  1. Glad you had a happy break and birthday girl! you are awesome! and i just saw Twilight too and that one part was surely disturbing ! But i looked it up and Bella said it was CGI … so let’s hope … anyway you should be super proud of yourself πŸ™‚ love ya!

  2. It sounds like you had a good time and I may be a little late in saying this, but happy birthday! :] I watched Breaking Dawn too and I definitely cringed at some parts of the movie but I couldn’t stop watching; my eyes were literally glued to the screen the whole time! And for the record, I really like your dalmation onesie! It’s cute! :]
